Swimming Pools, Hot Tubs, and Spas
Prefabricated swimming pools that are less than 24" deep are not required to have a building permit or to meet any barrier requirements.
Any structure intended for swimming or recreational bathing, including in-ground, aboveground, and on-ground swimming pools, hot tubs and spas that are more than 24" deep are required to have a building permit and to meet barrier requirements intended to provide protection against potential drownings.
